Village Rising Foundation (VRF) is a community-first organization with a focus on rebuilding community infrastructure through sports, education, & partnerships -- ensuring recovery is lasting, inclusive, and resilient.
VRF originally formed in 2018 in response to the Woolsey Fire which caused widespread displacement and loss in Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, Malibu, and surrounding unincorporated communities.
Within three weeks, VRF raised over $300,000 in charitable contributions and provided direct financial assistance to more than 70 displaced residents.
In the following years, the Foundation continued limited disaster- assistance, including a small grant in support of relief efforts following the Getty Fire.
In 2022, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation suspended active grantmaking operations.
Following the devastating Los Angeles wildfires of January 2025, the Foundation resumed operations to meet community recovery needs.
VRF focused its efforts on communities experiencing extensive damage to schools, parks, and community centers. Both the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire destroyed thousands of structures and caused widespread disruption to community life.
